CIC seeks clarification from Indian Medical Association about pepsico.

The Indian medical association (IMA)and medical council of India (MCI)have landed in a soup with regard to the endorsement of Pepsi products, thanks to the right to Information tool.
An RTI application by K V Babu ,a member of IMA , on the endorsement of  two Pepsi products by the IMA-Tropicana fruit juice and Quaker cereals-has stimulated the central information commission (CIC)to direct th MCI to take up the issue with their ethics committee. The CIC also asked the IMA to clarify without any delay how ethical it was for doctors to support commercial products.
"The commission directs the MCI to place the issue before the ethics committee at its next meeting and to inform the appellant the decision taken. In addition, the CPIO of the IMA id directed to furnish the information to the appellant by 15 December and also to show cause why a penalty should not be imposed on him for not publishing reply",said information commissioner Annapurna Dixit in her verdict.
